The week of MASH 2014 – The Praise Report

During the week of June 23-26, residents of Grants Pen, Shortwood, Barbican and other surrounding communities, accessed free medical services at MASH 2014 (Medical Ambassadors Serving through Health care). This annual event is in its 6th year at Upper Room Community Church (URCC) in collaboration with Stafford Crossing Community Church (SCCC) of Virginia, USA.

Thirty-five volunteers from SCCC worked side by side with fifty-three volunteers from URCC to provide top medical services to the patrons of the clinic. During the 4-day period, approximately 942 patients accessed the various services which included the service of medical doctors, filling of prescriptions, eye screening by Lions Club, dental education and free HIV/AIDS tests courtesy of the Ministry of Health.

Pastor Darryl Moseley, Senior Pastor of SCCC, with support from Pastor Ian Muirhead, Senior Pastor of URCC, held devotions every morning with the patients, while they waited to obtain their medical services. Each patron of the clinic was also prayed for in the “prayer pod” after receiving their services and approximately 70 persons made a commitment or re-commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ! For this we give God all the glory and praise!

SCCC through their benevolence and God’s provision provided all the medication and medical supplies for the medical clinic. Their medical team consisted of a doctor, nurses and a pharmacist. URCC was instrumental in sourcing other local doctors to meet the demands of patients for the week.

We wish to thank SCCC, under the leadership of Pastor Darryl Moseley, for their commitment and hard work in bringing a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers who humbly served the residents of the surrounding communities and indeed from outside of the community. We also say a big thank you to the volunteers of URCC, who provided excellent customer service to the patrons of the clinic. We thank all the doctors who took time out from their personal practice and commitments to serve during the clinic.

The Lions Club and the HIV mobile testing unit of the Ministry of Health, have become staples of these MASH clinics and we thank them for their tremendous support in providing eye screening tests and HIV/AIDS tests respectively. We thank every person who assisted in any way in making this event a Godly success. Finally, we thank God for His presence and peace throughout the entire clinic and for the persons He touched with His love and grace.
