Team Upper has successfully made it through to the quarter finals of the Southern Basketball League Conference. In this round, they have to play best of three against Waterhouse Blazers (WB) to secure their spot in the semi-finals. They are already on the road of that journey as they squared off against WB recently at “Upper Room Courts” in the first of three matches.
It was a real battle royal as both teams fought for dominance with WB exhibiting that dominance for the first two and a half quarters of the game. During the first half of the match, Team Upper trailed by 6-12 points at times. WB showed their strength and experience by their quick rebounding skills.
In late third quarter action, Team Upper turned the tables on WB and took the lead capitalizing on rebounds and cheeky steals. Team Upper, cheered on by their home supporters, kept the lead by 10 points throughout the fourth quarter ending in a significant victory of 71 to 58 points! Big congratulations to the players and coaches!
The second match against WB is scheduled for Mon. May 12 at WB mini stadium. We pray that God will give them wisdom on and off the court and that they will play to the best of their God-given ability.
